The success of a couples spa break rarely comes down to how many saunas a hotel has. It comes down to who is sitting next to you. You book a weekend with a massage and a candlelit dinner, then spend an hour in the relaxation room listening to a school group, or squeeze into the sauna between twelve colleagues on a team-building trip, and the mood is gone. That is why this guide to couples spa breaks in the Czech Republic is not another list of “the best spa hotels”. We looked for places where two people can genuinely switch off: adults-only hotels, private spas you hire by the hour and suites with their own sauna and hot tub, where nobody will disturb you.
Getting here is easy. Prague has direct flights from London and several other UK airports (check current schedules), and seven of the tips below are in the city or under 90 minutes’ drive from Prague Airport. For the hotels in South Moravia, Vienna Airport is often the better choice: Mikulov is about 100 km away, roughly 70 minutes by car. Prices in the Czech Republic are in Czech crowns (Kč, CZK). We have kept them in crowns exactly as the hotels publish them and added a rough conversion for the key amounts, using 1 € ≈ 25 Kč and £1 ≈ 29 Kč.
Couples spa breaks in the Czech Republic at a glance
- No children at all: V Nebi in the Jizera Mountains (18+), Retro Riverside near Karlovy Vary (Booking says children cannot stay), Château Šanov near Rakovník and Ondrášův dvůr in the Beskydy Mountains (both 15+), and You & Me Apartments (15+).
- With an age limit: Augustiniánský dům in Luhačovice takes guests from 12, Hotel Tommy in Náchod from 10.
- Private spa by the hour costs roughly 1,000 to 2,200 Kč per couple in Prague (about €40 to €90, £35 to £75). In hotels outside Prague it ranges from 600 Kč (about £20) for half an hour in a hot tub to 10,000 Kč (about €400, £340) for the entire spa to yourselves.
- A spa of your own all night: the night-time spa at Resort Kovárna Frýdštejn from 8,990 Kč (about €360, £305), or the You & Me apartments with their own sauna and hot tub from 15,650 Kč (about €625, £530).
- Romantic packages with a private spa session and dinner start at around 6,400 Kč (about €255, £220) per couple per night (the Magical Night at the Castle at Chateau Herálec, Sunday to Thursday) and run to tens of thousands of crowns for a weekend at the most luxurious hotels.
- The cheapest way to total privacy is a room with its own hot tub, for example at Boutique penzion Rech near the Moravian Karst, where an afternoon and evening buffet is included.
- When to go: midweek, when the spas are half empty and packages cost less. Book Valentine’s Day, the Advent weekends and Czech public holiday weekends well in advance.
Spa hotel, spa town, thermal baths or private spa?
Czech hotel websites (and Czech travel ads) use these words loosely, but for a couple they mean quite different breaks. The Czech word you will see everywhere is wellness, which simply means a hotel spa with pools and saunas.
- A spa hotel (wellness hotel) has a pool, saunas and a hot tub used mainly by hotel guests, sometimes also by day visitors who pay an entrance fee. Treatments are for relaxation rather than medical: massages, baths, wraps. For a romantic break this is the usual choice.
- Spa towns in the traditional sense are built on natural healing resources, mineral water, peat or gas, and on medical treatments prescribed by a doctor. Towns such as Luhačovice or Mariánské Lázně now also have plenty of ordinary spa hotels that trade on the elegant atmosphere and will not ask you for a medical check-up.
- Thermal baths are large warm-water pool complexes, typically in Hungary, Slovakia or Poland. Pleasant enough for two, but not very romantic: think families and noise. If you want to look across the border, see our guide to the best spa hotels in Poland.
- A private spa is a sauna and hot tub (sometimes with a steam room or small pool) that you rent for an hour or several hours just for the two of you. You will find them in hotels and as stand-alone studios in cities, with no overnight stay. For couples it is the surest way to be left alone.
What to check before booking a romantic spa break for couples
Once you have booked the room, find out straight away how the spa works. Some hotels ask you to reserve spa time, at others you simply turn up. And it is always worth packing swimwear.
- “Adults only” does not always mean the same thing. Some hotels do not admit children at all, others take guests from 10, 12 or 15, and some only have an “adult friendly” spa that children may use at certain times. For every tip we give the exact age limit. If you want to be sure, check that the rule applies to both the rooms and the spa, not just one of them.
- Spa access may not be unlimited. Cheaper packages often include only one or three hours in the spa per day, with the rest charged extra. Hotels whose saunas are open to the public can be busy with day visitors in the evening. Before you pay, read what is included and when the spa is open: saunas often only open in the afternoon.
- A private spa almost always costs extra, and at popular hotels it is booked well ahead, on Friday and Saturday evenings sometimes weeks in advance. Romantic packages often include it, and then they work out better value than the room and private session separately.
- Saunas are textile-free. In Czech hotels you go into the sauna without swimwear, sitting on a sheet or towel, while swimwear is worn in the pool, the hot tub and often the steam room too. For some visitors this is a minor detail, for others it is the main reason to book a private spa. You will find a few more rules of Czech sauna etiquette in the practical tips further down.
- Weekends are more expensive and busier. The same room usually costs more on Friday and Saturday than from Sunday to Thursday, and many hotels insist on a two-night minimum at weekends. If you are flying in anyway, consider a midweek trip: you will have the spa almost to yourselves.
💡 Ask about the private spa as soon as you book the room. Free slots in a private spa usually run out before the rooms do, especially around Valentine’s Day, Christmas and long weekends. If you pay for the room first and only ask at reception, you may be left with a 10 am slot.
💡 Hire a car at the airport. Apart from the Prague tips, most of these hotels are in villages or on the edge of small towns, and public transport there is slow, especially in the evening. A hire car from Prague or Vienna Airport gives you the freedom to arrive at check-in and leave after a late breakfast.
17 couples spa breaks in the Czech Republic
We chose places where two people can genuinely relax: adults-only hotels, hotels with a private spa and apartments with their own sauna. They are ordered by region, from Prague through northern and western Bohemia to Moravia and the Beskydy Mountains. Around Prague you will also find three ideas for an evening without an overnight stay, where you rent a sauna and hot tub for a couple of hours and then go out for dinner.
Drive times are given from Prague or Brno, the natural starting points within the country. Where it helps, we have added an approximate drive from Prague Airport or Vienna Airport, calculated with a route planner for a car without traffic.
Prague and Central Bohemia
Where to go for a couples spa break in and around Prague?
1. Chateau Mcely: a castle where the sauna is yours alone
A Baroque chateau in the village of Mcely in the Nymburk district, about 50 minutes from Prague along the D10 towards Mladá Boleslav, according to the hotel (from Prague Airport allow around 75 minutes). Do not expect a classic spa with a sauna world here. Mcely Bouquet Spa is built around herbal aromatherapy and the hotel’s own cosmetics, and everything involving water and heat is private: an outdoor hot tub with a little sauna house, a herbal steam cabin inside the chateau, and a soak in a wooden tub in the Honey Gazebo next to a natural pond you can jump into to cool off all year round. In summer, a natural swimming pond in the park takes the place of a pool.
- Included in your stay: one hour of private sauna with hot tub per day between 9 am and 5 pm, by reservation (capacity is small, so book it together with the room). Evening sessions cost extra. The hotel’s website gives both 400 and 600 Kč per person per hour, so confirm the price when booking.
- For couples: the Mcely Love Elixir ritual (150 minutes: scrub, facial, a shared soak in the tub or steam with prosecco, and a massage) costs 10,990 Kč for two on its own (about €440, £375). The package of the same name for two nights with breakfast, the ritual and private sauna starts at 21,440 Kč per couple in a Superior room according to the hotel’s price list (about €860, £730; prices as of October 2026, not valid during special events). The evening Mcely Love Bath in a tub with rose petals costs 2,890 Kč for two for an hour.
- Children: the hotel is not adults-only and children are welcome, but it is a small chateau and families are not its main market.
- The catch: if you want to swim lengths and rotate through five saunas, you will be disappointed. This is a place for slow pampering, not a sauna marathon.
Chateau Mcely on Booking.com. What we like most about Mcely is that nobody rushes you: you plan your hour in the private sauna to suit yourselves, and the rest of the day is the park, a book and dinner.

2. Château Šanov: an adults-only chateau near Rakovník
A five-star chateau hotel in the village of Šanov, about 6 km from Rakovník, on the edge of the Křivoklátsko Protected Landscape Area. The hotel says it is about 55 minutes by car from both Prague and Karlovy Vary; from Prague Airport it is under an hour. This is a genuinely adults-only hotel: rooms and spa are for guests aged 15 and over.
According to the official website the spa covers 1,800 m². It includes an indoor stainless-steel leisure pool measuring 5 × 15 metres heated to 29 °C, a sauna world with a Finnish sauna, herbal steam room and salt sauna, a Kneipp walk and experience shower, a relaxation room, balneotherapy and a gym. There are also loungers in the chateau courtyard.
- Included in your stay: the pool daily from 8 am to 8 pm, the sauna world from 2 pm to 8 pm.
- For couples: the Czech spa portal Spa.cz sells a “Romantic weekend stay” (1 night, half board, spa) from 2,495 Kč per person (about €100, £85), and midweek from 1,995 Kč per person (as of October 2026). Treatments and chateau rituals are booked separately.
- The catch: the saunas close at 8 pm, so this is not the place for long evening sauna sessions. Parking in the underground garage is charged.
Château Šanov on the hotel’s website. We would choose Šanov midweek, when it is quiet and the romantic package is cheaper, and spend the afternoon cycling or walking in the Křivoklátsko forests.
3. You & Me Wellness Apartments: a spa just for the two of you, all night
Six apartments for two in Suchdol near Sedlčany (municipality of Prosenická Lhota, Příbram district). The operator says it is under an hour from Prague and a quarter of an hour from Sedlčany; from Prague Airport count on about 80 minutes. The whole concept is built on not meeting anyone: entry by code, food ordered on a tablet and delivered through a hatch (the kitchen cooks until 9.30 pm), and every apartment has a private garden that nobody can see into.
Each apartment has its own private spa for the whole stay, and each one is different. Stone has a bath and fireplace carved into the rock, a Finnish sauna and an outdoor hot tub in the woods. Wooden has a wooden bath by the fire, a sauna and a hot tub with a view down the valley. Waikiki has a tropical sauna and an indoor pool with bubbles among palms and sand, Industrial a Finnish sauna and a pool overlooking a pond, Salt a salt sauna and a bath for two in front of the fire, Bio a herbal sauna and a pool. Every apartment has a plunge pool or pond for cooling off.
- Price: according to the official price list in October 2026, a night (2 pm to 10 am) costs 15,650 Kč per apartment (about €625, £530), Industrial and Wooden 17,650 Kč. You can also book five hours without an overnight stay for 7,570 or 8,370 Kč respectively. Food and drinks are extra, and for a surcharge a massage therapist will come to your apartment.
- Children: 15+, no pets.
- The catch: the price. And if you like a restaurant, other people around and a wander through a hotel, after a few hours you may feel a little like you are in a luxury submarine. Not every apartment has an outdoor hot tub, so read the description when you choose.
You & Me Apartments on Booking.com. In our view the best place in this whole selection for an anniversary, when you want nothing but each other.
Prague in the evening: private spa and hotel spas in the city
In Prague you do not need to stay the night. Two hours in a private sauna with hot tub followed by dinner is a date you can fit in after a day of sightseeing. If you are flying in for a city break, these three are the easiest way to add a spa evening to it.
4. Alchymist Grand Hotel and Spa: a pool under a chandelier in a Gothic cellar
A five-star boutique hotel with 46 rooms in the House at the Infant Jesus (U Ježíška) on Tržiště street in the Lesser Town (Malá Strana), five minutes’ walk from Charles Bridge. Its Ecsotica Spa & Health Club, staffed by Indonesian therapists, is set in 16th-century Gothic cellars according to the hotel: a relaxation pool under a crystal chandelier, a dry sauna, a relaxation room with an antique Chinese bed, and a gym. It is open daily from 9 am to 9 pm. For many visitors this is the answer to “what is the best spa in Prague for couples” if you want to stay right in the historic centre.
- Included in your stay: hotel guests use the pool, sauna and relaxation area free of charge, and get 20% off massages when booking direct.
- Without a stay: entry to the Health Club costs 1,100 Kč for two hours according to the hotel (about €44, £37). The “Fairy-tale Afternoon” package (a glass of prosecco, an hour in the spa, fruit, a 60-minute massage and a three-course lunch or dinner) costs 4,600 Kč per person (about €185, £155; October 2026).
- Children: the hotel is not adults-only; children may use the spa only with an adult.
- The catch: the spa is small, one sauna and a pool, no sauna world. You cannot park in front of the hotel; valet parking costs 1,250 Kč a day and has to be booked.
Alchymist Grand Hotel and Spa on Booking.com. We would not come here for a whole weekend because of the spa, but because of the Lesser Town on the doorstep: an empty Charles Bridge in the morning, the pool in the cellar in the afternoon.

5. Sauna Central: a private zone near Wenceslas Square
A sauna centre on Ve Smečkách street in the New Town, a few minutes from Muzeum metro station. Alongside the shared sauna world (four saunas including a ceremonial one, a steam room, a plunge pool, a bar and sauna ceremonies with sauna masters every evening), it has a private spa with its own Finnish sauna (85 to 95 °C), hot tub (37 °C), minibar and lounge corner. The hot tub water is changed and the room cleaned before every booking. If you are searching for a private sauna in Prague within walking distance of the Old Town, this is one of the most central options.
- Private spa price for two (day opening 11 am to 9 pm, price list October 2026): 60 minutes 1,590 Kč, 90 minutes 1,890 Kč, 120 minutes 2,190 Kč (about €88, £75), each extra person 200 Kč. The minibar is charged separately.
- At night: the website also mentions night-time opening of the private spa, but the times differ across the site and we could not find a price. Ask when booking.
- The catch: it is a basement in the city centre, with no windows or nature. If you arrive late, your booking still ends at the original time.
Sauna Central private spa. For us it works best as a prelude to dinner: two hours here, then a walk to one of the restaurants around Vodičkova street.
6. Wellness Petrská: a private spa beneath a bistro
A 100 m² private spa in the basement of Bistro Republika on Petrská street in the New Town. It is always yours alone: a separate room with a Finnish sauna and relaxation area, another with a hot tub and a double lounger, changing rooms with a shower, towels, bathrobes and a corner with coffee and soft drinks. On request they will prepare prosecco or tapas from the bistro upstairs.
- Price: according to the website, the private sauna starts at 1,000 Kč, the hot tub at 1,300 Kč and the whole spa for 1 to 4 hours at 1,500 Kč (about €60, £50). You will only see the exact amount for your length and day in the booking system.
- Opening hours: the website says it is open non-stop, while the booking system showed the last slot ending at 2 am. Evenings are certainly possible.
- The catch: it is a basement, and the “from” prices can climb higher in the booking system.
Wellness Petrská. A sauna followed by dinner one floor up is, in our view, one of the most effortless romantic evenings you can plan in Prague.
Couples spa breaks in northern Bohemia
Where to go for a spa break for two in the mountains and sandstone country north of Prague?
7. Wellness hotel V Nebi: the Jizera Mountains for adults only
A small hotel with 13 rooms on a hillside above the mountain hamlet of Příchovice (municipality of Kořenov) in the Jizera Mountains, more than 800 metres above sea level. From Prague you drive via Turnov, Tanvald and Desná; allow about two hours, which is also roughly the drive from Prague Airport. It is one of the few Czech hotels that is strictly adults-only, 18+, and its Nebeské SPA (“Heavenly Spa”) is for hotel guests only, with no day visitors.
The spa has an indoor panoramic pool and an outdoor infinity pool heated all year round (both 32 °C), a Finnish and a herbal sauna, an outdoor Finnish sauna with a saltwater cooling pond, an ice fountain and a cold-water well. Your stay includes unlimited spa access and what the hotel calls “wellness board”: breakfast, a late lunch, a dessert and a four-course dinner.
- Private, at extra cost (hotel price list, October 2026): the outdoor whirlpool on the terrace 600 Kč for 30 minutes for two, a private Finnish sauna 700 Kč per hour, the pool to yourselves with sparkling wine 1,700 Kč for 90 minutes (8 pm to 9.30 pm only) and a stone bath for two from 4,600 Kč.
- Price: from 5,200 Kč per person per night including board and spa (about €210, £175; Garden room, Tuesday to Friday, price list valid until May 2027), minimum two nights. The Romantic Stay for Two package for two nights with whirlpool and massages costs 30,900 to 42,100 Kč per couple depending on the room.
- The catch: the saunas only run from noon to 7 pm and the pool until 7 pm, so there is no evening sauna. And you will not get below ten thousand crowns (about £340) per couple per night here.
Wellness hotel V Nebi on the hotel’s website (careful: a similarly named domain belongs to a different hotel in Josefův Důl). In our view this is the kind of hotel you arrive at knowing you will not leave it all weekend, and neither of you will mind.
8. Resort Kovárna Frýdštejn: a private spa overnight
A former blacksmith’s forge in Frýdštejn in the Bohemian Paradise (Český ráj), about an hour and a quarter from Prague along the D10 towards Turnov, and about 90 minutes from Prague Airport. There is no shared hotel spa here, only a private designer spa underground and three suites. The spa consists of a stainless-steel whirlpool (36 to 38 °C, 22 jets, for three people), a Finnish sauna, a steam sauna with herbal essence, a stainless-steel plunge pool, a Kneipp walk, an experience shower, a relaxation tub of hand-beaten copper, a bio-fireplace and a spa bar with a view into the historic well.
- Daytime private session (Tuesday to Sunday, 120-minute block for two, price list as of October 2026): 3,490 Kč on weekday mornings, 3,900 Kč in the afternoon, at weekends and on public holidays (about €155, £135). Guests 15+.
- Night-time spa, or the Wellness Suite: from 8 pm to 9 am, the whole 120 m² with a double bed just for you, from 8,990 Kč per night for two (about €360, £305), 18+ only.
- For couples: the Romance for Two package (two nights, Monday to Thursday) includes a suite, private spa, a private dinner served in your room and breakfast in a picnic basket. The price only appears in the booking system.
- The catch: there is no pool for swimming and no classic spa, everything is paid in blocks and the daytime spa is closed on Mondays. The regular suites have a fireplace and bath, but no hot tub.
Resort Kovárna on the resort’s website. A night spent right inside the spa is something you will struggle to find anywhere else, and we would save it for an anniversary.
9. Hotel Tommy Náchod: a hot tub on the roof
A hotel in the quiet Babí district on the edge of Náchod, 7 km from Kudowa-Zdrój across the Polish border and about two hours from Prague on the D11 (just over two hours from Prague Airport). The hotel describes itself as Adults Only 10+, so it accepts guests from the age of ten. The most interesting part for couples is its four private zones, above all Bella Vista on the roof with an outdoor hot tub and a glass-fronted Finnish sauna.
- Private spa for two (hotel price list, October 2026): Bella Vista hot tub 2,600 Kč per hour (about €105, £90), sauna 1,800 Kč, the All Inclusive option with hot tub, sauna, fireplace and minibar 4,590 Kč for two hours. Cheaper is the Angel zone with an aroma bath and sauna for 1,200 Kč per hour.
- Shared spa: an indoor pool of about 6.7 × 4.6 metres (around 28 °C), hot tub, Finnish sauna and steam room, daily from 1 pm to 9 pm. It is not included in the room rate and is paid separately.
- For couples: the “Magical Romantic Stay” for two nights with breakfast, an hour in the Angel zone, pool and hot tub costs 7,400 Kč for two (about €295, £250).
- The catch: the shared spa is also open to the public and to children; “adults only” refers to the rooms. If you want peace and quiet, pay for a private zone from the start.
Hotel Tommy on the hotel’s website. Its romantic package is one of the cheapest in the whole selection, and the rooftop hot tub after dark is, in our view, the best part of it.
Couples spa breaks in western Bohemia and the Vysočina Highlands
Where to go for a romantic spa break west and south-east of Prague?
10. Chateau Herálec: a hot tub in the turret
A five-star chateau hotel in Herálec near Humpolec in the Vysočina region (not to be confused with the other Herálec near Žďár nad Sázavou), about an hour and a quarter from both Prague and Brno along the D1, and about an hour and a half from Prague Airport. The spa takes up the whole south wing of the chateau and, as the first hotel in the Czech Republic, holds a Spa L’Occitane licence. The pool sits under historic vaulted ceilings in the former stables, and the sauna world consists of a spacious Finnish sauna, a smaller herbal sauna, an infrared sauna and a steam bath, plus a quiet room overlooking the English park. For couples there is a private hot tub in the turret, by candlelight.
- Opening hours: 7 am to 10 pm; between noon and 1 pm the pool and saunas close for cleaning.
- For couples (hotel prices, October 2026): the Magical Night at the Castle package (nights from Sunday to Thursday only) with a rose, unlimited spa and 30 minutes in the turret hot tub with prosecco costs from 6,425 Kč for two per night (about €255, £220). Honeymoon at the Castle with a six-course tasting dinner and a 90-minute couples massage starts at 19,195 Kč (about €770, £650).
- Children: the hotel is not adults-only; children under ten may use the spa until 7 pm. The evening belongs to adults.
- The catch: at weekends, with children around the pool, it is not as intimate as the chateau setting promises. It is best to come midweek and use the spa in the evening.
Chateau Herálec on Booking.com, where guests rated it 9.7 out of 10 in October 2026. A midweek Magical Night is, in our view, one of the best combinations of price and experience in the whole selection.

11. Retro Riverside Wellness Resort: by the reservoir outside Karlovy Vary
A resort on the shore of the Březová reservoir, about 3 km from Karlovy Vary, roughly an hour and a half to an hour and three quarters from Prague on the D6 (from Prague Airport about 95 minutes). According to the operator it is the only adults-only hotel in Karlovy Vary, and Booking states that children cannot stay here (although the website still has a line about families for one apartment, so ask when booking). It has just 14 rooms, all with a balcony or terrace facing the reservoir.
The two-storey spa has a pool with panoramic views, jets and a counter-current, a hot tub, Roman baths and, according to the hotel, five saunas, including a herbal sauna and a laconium. It is open from 9 am to 9 pm and included for hotel guests.
- Private: after 10 pm the whole spa closes just for you, with a bottle of prosecco. One hour costs 2,500 Kč (about €100, £85), two hours (“A Night for Us”) 5,000 Kč, for hotel guests only.
- The catch: the private session is only available in a late window from 10 pm to midnight and it is not cheap. From Moravia it is more than three and a half hours’ drive.
Retro Riverside Wellness Resort on Booking.com (rated 8.7 from more than 1,200 reviews, October 2026). Karlovy Vary is close by, so you can spend the afternoon on the colonnade with the famous spa wafers and the evening in an empty spa.
South and Central Moravia
Finally, one of our favourite regions. If you are combining a spa break with Vienna, this is the closest part of the country.
12. Wellness Hotel Volarik: a rooftop with a view of Mikulov
The hotel of the Volařík winery on 22. dubna street in Mikulov, about 45 minutes from Brno and roughly 70 minutes from Vienna Airport. The hotel welcomes families too, so we include it for one specific reason: the SKY wellness on the roof, with views of the chateau and Holy Hill (Svatý kopeček). It has a Finnish sauna, a steam cabin and a relaxation pool with ten massage jets (28 to 34 °C), plus a Kelo sauna built from Arctic Circle timber and a natural swimming pond in the garden.
- Private: the rooftop hot tub with panoramic views costs 2,700 Kč for 45 minutes for two (about €110, £90). Romantic Spa Under the Stars, the whole rooftop spa just for you from 10 pm to midnight with sparkling wine and fruit, costs 10,000 Kč (about €400, £340).
- For couples: the Romance in Mikulov package (two nights or more) includes the private hot tub, a massage for two in the hotel’s wine spa, a bottle of wine and unlimited spa access. The price only appears when you book; in autumn 2026 the hotel was offering up to 30% off accommodation.
- Children: they may use the rooftop spa, but after 5 pm access for children under 13 is restricted.
- The catch: expect families during the day, parking is extra (200 Kč a day) and the private options are expensive.
Wellness Hotel Volarik on Booking.com. Mikulov itself is a wonderful town for couples: wine cellars, Holy Hill at sunset and dinner with local wine. The Pálava hills around it are the heart of Moravian wine country.

13. Boutique penzion Rech: a hot tub right in your apartment
A guesthouse on Hořická street in Blansko, on the edge of the Moravian Karst, about half an hour from Brno. There is no pool or large spa here, but it does have apartments with their own hot tub, some with a sauna too: exactly what people mean when they search for a hotel with a private jacuzzi in the room. Number Ten (50 m²) has an outdoor hot tub, a panoramic Finnish sauna and a private cooling pond, Number Eight a covered terrace with hot tub and sauna, Number Six a three-level attic with a large hot tub and a cinema-style TV. There is also a private spa with hot tub and infrared sauna.
- Price: apartments with a hot tub cost roughly 5,490 to 7,990 Kč per night for two according to the price list (about €220 to €320, £185 to £270), including breakfast and “all inclusive light”, an afternoon and evening buffet from 3 pm to 8 pm. The private spa costs 1,490 Kč for 90 minutes for two.
- For couples: the Relax package with private hot tub and infrared sauna for 90 minutes from 3,990 Kč per night for two (about €160, £135), the Mini Spa package with a hydrojet massage from 4,990 Kč (October 2026; the guesthouse does not say how long these prices are valid).
- Children: the guesthouse accepts them; it is not adults-only. Your privacy comes mainly from having your own hot tub.
- The catch: prices differ slightly between the price list and the room descriptions, and two apartments are away from the guesthouse in Jedovnice, without meals. No pets.
Boutique penzion Rech on the guesthouse’s website. A day exploring the caves of the Moravian Karst followed by an evening in your own hot tub is, in our view, the cheapest route to that “we have it all to ourselves” feeling.
14. Augustiniánský dům Luhačovice: Art Nouveau, a lagoon and guests from 12
An Art Nouveau house at the end of the spa centre of Luhačovice, ten minutes’ walk from the colonnade, about an hour and twenty minutes from Brno and around two and a half hours from Vienna Airport. Since April 2022 the hotel has not accepted children under 12. The Harmonie spa has a relaxation pool with counter-current (31 °C), a whirlpool, a Finnish and a herbal sauna, salt and menthol steam baths, a plunge pool and an outdoor terrace. Outside there is a 25 × 15 metre swimming lagoon with a waterfall, open all year round (in winter for cold-water swimming), a meditation yurt with a fireplace and the Garden of Six Senses.
- Included in your stay: the spa for the whole stay, with saunas open until 8 pm on weekdays and until 9 pm on Friday and Saturday. Pool and whirlpool from 7.30 am.
- For couples: the Winter Romance package (two nights or more, valid from 31 January to 31 March 2027) with prosecco, a gourmet dinner, a massage and unlimited spa starts at 7,190 Kč per person for two nights outside the weekend (about €290, £245). A standard spa stay until the end of 2026 costs from 5,590 Kč per person for two nights.
- The catch: there is no private sauna for two. You can hire the whole spa for an hour in the evening, but for 10,000 Kč. The local spa tax is charged separately.
Augustiniánský dům on Booking.com. After the sauna we would take a walk past the Jurkovič House to the Vincentka spring; Luhačovice feels made for romance.

The Beskydy and Jeseníky Mountains
We are from the Moravian-Silesian region ourselves, so this is where we usually head for a spa weekend for two. From Prague it is a long drive, so these tips suit a longer trip or a combination with Kraków, which is closer to the Beskydy than Prague is.
15. Ondrášův dvůr: the Beskydy for adults, with bathing tubs
A resort of log houses in the forest at Mezivodí near Bílá, between Bílá and Horní Bečva. It is about two and a quarter hours from Brno and around four hours from Prague. The resort is for guests aged 15 and over. The Wellness Beskydy Therme sauna world has a Finnish, herbal, steam and bio forest sauna, a relaxation room looking into the forest, a terrace with a pond and sauna ceremonies on Saturdays. There is also the Thermal Park with ten pinewood bathing tubs filled with water from deep boreholes (36 to 39 °C, including a private tub with bar service) and Tropico Beach, a pool with Caribbean sand, hammocks and projections of the underwater world.
- Included in your stay: the sauna world (Sunday to Friday 2 pm to 9.30 pm, Saturday from 10 am), Tropico Beach and the indoor pool. The Thermal Park is not included in the standard rate; you pay extra or get it in a package. Saunas and tubs are booked by time slot.
- Rooms with their own sauna: SPA Superior (35 m²) has a sauna and massage loungers, the Wellness Grand Suite a private spa with an outdoor hot tub and a thermal tub on the terrace.
- For couples: the Beskydy Romance package, with a room with its own sauna or an apartment with terrace, a bath for two in a tub with a bottle of frizzante and dessert, starts at 3,995 Kč per person according to the hotel (about €160, £135). It is not available in summer (30 June to 13 September) or over Christmas and Easter.
- The catch: the main attraction, the tubs, costs extra, and because of capacity you need to book time slots for both saunas and tubs. From Prague it is a long way.
Ondrášův dvůr on Booking.com. A soak in a wooden tub after dark followed by a sauna in the forest is, for us, the most Beskydy-like spa experience we know. The Beskydy Mountains have several more good spa hotels in the area.

16. Miura Hotel Čeladná: art, golf and a Privat SPA
A design hotel with 42 rooms right on the golf course in Čeladná, with a collection of contemporary art (Warhol, Hirst, Kapoor, Černý). About an hour and three quarters from Brno. According to the hotel, its spa is one of the few installations of the KLAFS brand concept in Central Europe: herbal and salt baths, steam, a sanarium, a Finnish sauna, an ice-rain shower, a snow room, a heated outdoor pool and an indoor relaxation pool with hydromassage. Mobile phones are banned in the spa, which is no bad thing on a romantic break.
- Included in your stay: three hours in the spa for every day of your stay. The spa opens at 2 pm on weekdays and at 10 am at weekends.
- Privat SPA (relaxation pool with hydromassage, Finnish sauna, minibar, levitating loungers): 3,500 Kč per hour for two with prosecco (about €140, £120), with two half-hour massages 5,000 Kč (October 2026).
- For couples: the Perfect Relaxation for Two package for one night with breakfast, an hour in the Privat SPA with prosecco, three hours in the spa and a three-course dinner costs from 10,600 Kč for two (about €425, £360).
- The catch: children aged 3 and over may use the spa (on weekdays until 5 pm, at weekends until 3 pm), so evenings are best for couples.
Miura ART Hotel on Booking.com. We would come here mainly for the combination of spa and dinner; the rest of the time you can wander the hotel as if it were a gallery.
17. Villa Regenhart Jeseník: a hot tub under the stars
A neo-Baroque villa from 1898 on the edge of Jeseník, about three hours from Prague according to the hotel and about two and a half hours from Brno. The hotel does not exclude children, but it deliberately targets couples and quiet relaxation. The guest spa, included in the price, has an indoor relaxation pool with a massage waterfall and Roman benches, a Finnish, steam and salt sauna, a plunge pool and an outdoor terrace. The pool is open from 10 am to 9.30 pm, the saunas from 3 pm (in summer, according to the booking system, from 5 pm).
- Private: a private zone with hot tub, Finnish sauna and water bed for 1,190 Kč per hour (about €48, £40), an outdoor hot tub under the stars with a bottle of prosecco for 1,610 Kč per hour (prices from the hotel’s booking system, October 2026).
- For couples: the Romance Under the Stars package for two nights with a seven-course tasting dinner at the Lotte restaurant, a second dinner and an hour in the outdoor hot tub with prosecco. The price only appears in the booking system; Executive Double rooms alone started at 2,575 Kč per night on the website.
- The catch: the saunas do not run during the day, some rooms are in the neighbouring building and check-out is at 10 am.
Villa Regenhart on Booking.com. A private spa for just under 1,200 crowns an hour is one of the most affordable among the hotels in our selection, and the Jeseníky Mountains around it are wonderfully empty in autumn.

Romantic spa break packages: what they include and how to read them
Almost every hotel in our selection sells some kind of “Romance for Two”. The names vary, the contents repeat. Typically you will find:
- Accommodation with breakfast or half board, often with one celebratory multi-course dinner instead of the usual one.
- Spa access, either unlimited or for a set number of hours.
- A private spa or hot tub for 50 to 120 minutes, often with a bottle of sparkling wine or prosecco.
- A couples massage or bath for two (beer, wine or herbal), and with pricier packages a whole ritual of several treatments. Beer baths are a Czech speciality, so if you have never tried one, this is the place.
- Little extras such as room decoration, a welcome bottle of wine or late check-out.
When comparing packages, work out what they would cost if you bought just what you actually want. A room with breakfast plus an hour of private spa and one dinner bought separately sometimes comes to about the same as a package, sometimes less. And check whether the price is per person or per couple. Czech aggregators such as Spa.cz quote prices “per person”, hotels often “per room”, and being out by a factor of two can be an unpleasant surprise.
Valentine’s Day, anniversaries and a spa break as a gift
The Valentine’s weekend around 14 February is one of the busiest times of year at romantic hotels, together with Advent and New Year’s Eve. If you want a specific hotel and a private spa on a Saturday evening, book weeks or even months ahead. A quieter and cheaper alternative is to move the celebration back a week or go midweek.
As an anniversary or birthday present, most hotels sell gift vouchers directly on their websites, either for a specific package or for an amount. A voucher for an amount is the safer choice, because the recipients can choose their own dates and the package may change in the meantime. Check how long the voucher is valid and whether it can be used at weekends and on public holidays. Czech experience-gift websites sell vouchers too, but check their validity there as well, and whether you can book any date or only selected ones.
Practical tips: what to pack and Czech sauna etiquette
- Bathrobes, towels and slippers are usually in the room at hotels or can be borrowed at reception. At private studios in the city, ask in advance: sometimes they are included, sometimes they cost extra. Always bring your own slippers and swimwear.
- Into the sauna without swimwear, on a sheet or towel. On the bench you sit or lie with your whole body on the towel, feet included. Swimwear is worn in the pool, the hot tub and usually the steam room. If this is new to you, a private spa removes the question entirely.
- One sauna round is roughly 8 to 15 minutes in the sauna, then a shower, cooling off and the same amount of time resting lying down. Two or three rounds with drinks of water in between are enough; it is not a competition.
- In saunas and relaxation rooms people talk quietly or not at all. The hot tub is the place for chatting, preferably a private one.
- Do not eat a heavy meal before a massage or sauna, and go easy on alcohol: a glass of sparkling wine in the hot tub is about the limit. Save the romantic dinner for after the spa.
💡 Book the massage for your first day and the spa for the second. Massage slots at popular hotels fill up as quickly as private spa sessions. If you have them booked before you arrive, you can spend the rest of your stay simply relaxing, rather than fitting in with whatever is left at reception.
Frequently asked questions
Are there adults-only spa hotels in the Czech Republic?
Yes. Completely child-free are Wellness hotel V Nebi in the Jizera Mountains (18+) and Retro Riverside near Karlovy Vary (according to Booking, children cannot stay). Château Šanov near Rakovník, Ondrášův dvůr in the Beskydy Mountains and You & Me Apartments near Sedlčany accept guests from 15. Augustiniánský dům in Luhačovice takes guests from 12.
How much does a private spa for two cost in the Czech Republic?
In Prague a private sauna with hot tub costs roughly 1,600 to 2,200 Kč for one to two hours (Sauna Central, October 2026), about £55 to £75, and smaller studios start at 1,000 Kč. In hotels, half an hour in a private hot tub starts at 600 Kč (V Nebi), an hour in a private zone costs around 1,200 Kč (Villa Regenhart) and hiring the entire spa just for you costs 2,500 to 10,000 Kč.
Which Czech hotels have a private jacuzzi in the room?
Your own hot tub or sauna comes with the You & Me apartments near Sedlčany, the spa apartments at penzion Rech in Blansko, the SPA Superior rooms with their own sauna and the Wellness Grand Suite at Ondrášův dvůr, and the Wellness Suite at Resort Kovárna, where you sleep right inside the spa.
What is the best spa in Prague for couples?
For an evening without an overnight stay, a private spa works best, for example Sauna Central on Ve Smečkách or Wellness Petrská beneath Bistro Republika. If you want to stay in the centre, Alchymist Grand Hotel in the Lesser Town has a spa in its Gothic cellars. Within an hour of Prague are Chateau Mcely, Château Šanov and You & Me Apartments.
What is included in a romantic spa break package?
Usually accommodation with breakfast or half board, spa access, an hour of private sauna or hot tub with sparkling wine, a massage or bath for two and a celebratory dinner. Always check whether spa access is unlimited and whether the price is per person or per couple.
Is a one-night or two-night spa break better for couples?
One night works, especially midweek, when hotels routinely sell single-night stays. At weekends many hotels require a minimum of two nights, and the first day is often spent travelling and checking in anyway. If you are flying in and really want to switch off, plan on at least two nights.
Are saunas in the Czech Republic naked?
Yes, in Czech hotel spas you normally go into the sauna without swimwear, sitting or lying on a sheet or towel. Swimwear is worn in the pool, the hot tub and usually the steam room. If you would rather not share a textile-free sauna, book a private spa.
When should we book a Valentine’s spa break?
As early as possible, ideally several weeks or months in advance. The weekend around 14 February is one of the busiest of the year at romantic hotels, and private spa slots sell out before the rooms do. It is cheaper and quieter to celebrate a week later or midweek.
