Since it was cold and we wanted to go out for a little sunshine, we finally went to see Cyprus too. We went in February so the weather was nice to travel and explore. After exiting the gorge, the trail continues through grassy plains with wonderful views and pastures for sheep. We really liked this route. It was a bit different than cities and beaches, so we definitely recommend it.

Varosha (Ghost Town) in Northern Cyprus
Have you heard about the place of Famagusta, or Vrosha? It is an abandoned resort that is today a ghost town. It was closed until 2020, so no one got there. The then residents and tourists had to leave it hastily during the Turkish invasion in 1974. This ghost town with rusting cars on the streets, smashed shop windows and half-demolished houses overgrown with vegetation provides a powerful historical experience.
The area is partially accessible to visitors through the main entrance at the Good Fellows restaurant and the entrance is guarded by the police. It was one of the places we couldn’t miss and it was quite an experience.

A large archaeological site in the center of Paphos, which is on the UNESCO list. The park contains the remains of an ancient city, including beautifully preserved mosaics in four Roman villas, the ancient Odeon Theater, the agora and the walls. The complex also includes the Paho lighthouse.
